Moon Boon, 2020
A warrior would do anything to save her village--but this may be more than what she bargained for.

Moon Boon is an animatic made with CLIP Studio Paint and compiled in Adobe Premiere.

Ideation
After a few months of burnout, I decided to make an project for an audience of one--me. This wound up being a romantic comedy between a stern but desperate warrior and the beautiful yet bored local goddess, who is intent on collecting a pantheon of wives.

The overall style is a result of playing too much Breath of the Wild and Final Fantasy 7.

The animatic is rife with sapphic and feminine motifs--lunar and water based signs are traditionally feminine, so the moon goddess shrine is full of them. Violets and carnations are meant to bloom around the shrine as well, playing into ideas of mother earth and old queer signals.

Storyboards
Originally scribbled on computer paper on my lunch break at work.

I wanted to focus more on using dynamic light and shadows for this project. The Goddess is a lightbulb in the dark and the warrior is a moth looking for the moon, so there's plenty to play with in regards to contrasting light, size and personality of the characters.
