Hook Harbor, 2019
Guppy the goldfish is a mermaid who wants to be the greatest painter in the world--or at the very least, in her hometown! Too bad her hometown is overrun with nuclear radtiation.
Ideation
This started with various drawings depicting weird mermaids--fish heads on human bodies, fish with human legs, and whatever the Starbucks mermaid happens to be. They were all so ridiculous that I figured it would make for a great comedy series, and started making little sketch comics of an enthusiastic artist mermaid who spends most of her time painting and drinking overpriced coffee.

Story
When a nuclear bomb was set off in the ocean, it created the mermaids--human-like mutations of local fish. Shortly afterwards, they all decided to move into the nearby coastal town.
Of course, what a fish thinks a city should be and what humans think a city should be are two very different things!
Most of the conflict is either environmental--radioactive waste, pollustion, and climate change-- or character driven! Guppy gets herself into a great deal of trouble trying to make a name for herself as an artist trying to bag a mural gig from the town tourism committee.
Once she makes that mural, the humans will see how amazing fish art will be!
